Bachelor of computer application or (BCA)

Bachelor of computer application or (BCA) is an undergraduate degree course in computer application. With the rapid growth of IT industry in India, the demand of computer professional is increasing day by day. This increasing growth of IT industry has created a lot of opportunities for the computer graduates.

The course is designed to equip students with the fundamental understanding and practical skills needed by the potential leaders of a demanding profession. It is a six semester programme with a total of 120 credits which consists of Common Courses, Core Courses, Complimentary Courses and Open Courses and Lab Work. Each type of course has its own relevance in the entire scheme of things. Assignment and Seminars for each paper, a Mini Project Work and a Major Project Work etc are part of the curriculum. The evaluation of the course is done using an integrated grading system based on Attendance, Internal Assessment, and External Examination etc. There are electives like Client Server Computing, Linux Operating System, Data Mining and System Software.

Job Opportunities

This course provides a lot of opportunities to the students who are interested in computer field and wants to work in the IT sector like Software engineers, System Analysts, Web designers, Data Base Administrators, Software Testers and more.

Eligibility

The eligibility for admission to BCA Degree Programme under the Mahatma Gandhi University is a pass in Pre-degree, Plus Two or equivalent examinations in science stream with Mathematics/Computer Science as a compulsory subject.

AdmissionProcedure

In total of 40 seats admission for 50% of seats will be done through university centralized allotment and the other 50% will be through management allotment. Admission to merit quota is based on university centralized allotment. Admission to management Quota is selective and is based on the merit and interview ranking. BBA

Bachelor of Business Administration is a very popular Undergraduate Degree in India. The degree is awarded for a program in Business Administration.  The duration of the program is 3 years, divided into many semesters. BBA program is designed to give essential knowledge about Management education. The program also develops the student’s entrepreneurship and communication skills.

The students are prepared to discover changes created in management career. Business Administration study methodology includes training through practical classes. The program includes case studies, industrial visits etc. This course also covers projects and presentations. Bachelor’s degree courses in Business Administration/ Business Studies/ Management Studies are called by various names. These programs have different names like BBA, BBS and BMS.

OBJECTIVES:

The course is designed to prepare students for practical work in the Business Administration Environment. The objectives of the course are:

To provide a basic knowledge of business concepts, procedures and methodologies of operations in organization.

BBA is a fundamental course that undergoes changes in tone with changing times constantly.

Introduction to business organization and systems in Indian and international market.

The demand for professional managers is increasing day by day, to achieve professional competence.

To provide the specific administrative, business, accounting and communication skills required for the practical understanding of the use in the business environment and to introduce analytical and design techniques sufficient for today’s business thinking.

Eligibility criteria for BBA

The eligibility for admission to BBA Degree Programme under the Mahatma Gandhi University is a pass in Pre-degree, Plus Two or equivalent examinations from a reputed education board. The admission is mostly carried out on merit basis. The marks needed in the +2 are at least 55%.

B.Com. Computer Application

B.Com. Computer Application is a demand driven new age vocational course doubling the scope by coupling two most job oriented streams - Commerce and Computer Applications. Computers have their application or utility everywhere. Computer Programs have been created for almost every sphere of life–to enable greater speed and accuracy in performance and results. Their applications, particularly in fields where computations are required to be done at a very fast speed and where data is so complicated, have become the order of the day.

The Program aims:

To enable the students to acquire basic knowledge in Information Technology and its relevance in the various areas of business.

To enable the students to acquire basic knowledge in the various office automation tools and its applications in the various areas of business.

To enable the students to acquire basic knowledge in the computerized accounting systems and its applications in the area of business.

The undergraduate programme of MG University follows the choice based credit semester system as envisaged by the University Grants Commission and higher education council of Kerala. The programme shall be completed in six semesters. Each semester is a minimum of 18 instructional weeks comprising 90 working days with continuous internal evaluation and university examination at the end of each semester. The internal and external examination shall be evaluated using direct grading system based on five point scale. The Internal Evaluation of the course is done using an integrated grading system based on Attendance, Internal Assessment, and Assignments & Seminars etc. Students have to complete a total of 120 credits which consists of Common Courses, Core Courses, Complimentary Courses and Open Courses. Each type of course has its own relevance in the entire scheme of things. Assignment and Seminars for each paper, a Project Work, one month on the job training etc are part of the curriculum. The Computer Application Stream includes IT for Business, IT for Office, Computerized Accounting, DBMS etc.

Along with this, our college offers relevant add on courses for the overall development of the students.

Eligibility

Admission to B.Com Degree Programme will be open only to candidates who have passed the plus-two of the Higher Secondary Board of Kerala or Pre-Degree of Mahatma Gandhi University or that of any other University or Board of Studies in any state recognized as equivalent to the Plus Two of the Higher Secondary Board of Kerala, with not less than 45% marks in aggregate, is eligible for admission. However, SC/ST, OBC, and other eligible communities shall be given relaxation as per University rules.

Out of a total of 60 seats, admission for 50% of seats will be done through MG University UG Centralized Allotment Process (UGCAP) and the other 50% will be through Management Allotment. Admission to Management Quota is selective and is based on the merit and interview ranking. Application forms can be acquired from the college office.

BCom –Finance and Taxation

The undergraduate programme of MG University follows the choice based credit semester system as envisaged by the University Grants Commission and higher education council of Kerala.

The programme shall be completed in six semesters. The Finance & Taxation Stream includes Financial Management, VAT, Income Tax, Income Tax Assessment etc.

BA-English, Communication and Journalism

This triple main program is specially designed to mould excellent journalists and media professionals taking into account the vital role those Communication skills in general and English language in specific play in gaining excellent job opportunities for a student. The program consists of a total of 120 credits divided into six semesters with five papers each. Apart from lab work, projects and seminars, the course also has two internship programs in Communicative English (in IV Semester) and in Journalism (in VI Semester)

MCom-Finance

The M.Com Finance Program is designed with the purpose of generating in the student’s mind, a comprehensive understanding of the role of financial decisions in the growth of the society, both at micro and macro level. The M.Com Postgraduate programme of M G University follows the Credit Semester System. There are four semesters in the entire course, with two semesters each year. Each semester will have 90 instructional days. There are 5 papers in each semester and one project and comprehensive viva voce at the end of the last semester. The papers in the first three semesters will constitute the core element common to all students who undergo the same course and the papers in the final semester will be the optional component. Every student shall be evaluated by 25% internal assessment and 75% external assessment.

Eligibility

Admission to M.Com is limited to students who have passed in B.Com examination of MG University or of any other University recognized by MG University with not less than 50% marks inaggregate.
